Get Through Your First Expedition

Your Wasp is your way off an island, but it needs more than a running engine to bring you home. This ATMOSFAR beginner guide follows the recorded public demo from the prison tutorial into the first survival objectives. Learning the tool, power, repair, and fuel loop makes those early flights much less confusing.

The public demo was retired on April 30, according to the developer's Steam announcements. Treat the route below as guidance for that demo, rather than a claim that every objective or control will be identical in the October 29 Early Access release. The official ATMOSFAR Steam page describes the broader game, including flying Wasps, a mobile Cloud Cruiser base, and online co-op.

Begin by following your journal and nearby objective markers. In the recorded demo, the opening prison work routine introduces the extractor, scrap collection, and food before the escape sequence opens the route to a Wasp. The enormous sentence quota is part of that setup; the demonstrated route continues through the story event, not through an endless scrap grind.

Learn Your Tools and Protect Your Backpack Power

The demo's keyboard prompts use T to equip tools and a held T to choose among available tools. To extract material, aim with the right mouse button and hold the left mouse button. Holding fire without aiming is not the demonstrated extraction method.

Your tools draw electricity from your backpack. The demo explains three ways to replenish it: solar charging, batteries, and certain plants. In the recorded player experience, friendly blue plants restore power, while some other plants drain it or attack. Watch the actual power gauge instead of assuming every colorful plant helps you.

Collect useful scrap as you travel, but leave room for mission items. The walkthrough eventually reaches a full inventory while searching for the PACE lever. Carrying more materials is helpful only while you can still pick up the thing needed to continue.

Fly to the Intended Landing Spot

After boarding the first Wasp, open its flight-controls display. It covers movement, pitch, roll, vertical movement, and boost; use the bindings shown for your input device.

The recorded keyboard demo uses G for engine and landing-gear interactions. Extend the gear before touching down, then hold G to stop the engine and use F to leave the aircraft. The distinction between tapping and holding matters.

Follow the journal and objective markers toward the intended landing area rather than choosing the first island that looks convenient. In the recorded demo, the player follows the ring route, checks the journal, and looks for the marked landing spot before continuing the journey.

Establish the Camp, Repair, and Refuel

At the first survival area, the Camp Hub gives you access to portable camp equipment. The recorded walkthrough deploys the hub, later places a crafting table and hydrogen refinery, and packs the camp back onto the Wasp for travel.

Keep these immediate goals in order:

  1. Follow the repair-tool objective to the old PACE facilities and find the welder.
  2. Select the welder and repair the damaged Wasp components using the materials shown by each repair prompt.
  3. Gather hydrogen crystals when the journal directs you to them.
  4. Use the camp crafting facilities to build and place the hydrogen refinery.
  5. Process crystals into hydrogen, transfer it to your personal fuel supply, and then transfer fuel into the Wasp.

Repairing one component does not necessarily repair the whole aircraft. The player narration checks the main engine and more than one hover engine. The developer's Wasp blog also explains that damage can impair handling, speed, and fuel use, so the repair stop is useful preparation for the next flight.

Fuel canisters and the Wasp tank are separate steps in the demo interface. Consume a canister from your inventory to add fuel to your personal reserve, then use the aircraft's fuel interaction to transfer it. Before leaving, check the Wasp's tank rather than assuming that picking up a canister filled it automatically.

FAQ

Is the ATMOSFAR demo still available?

The developer announced that the public Steam demo would be taken down on April 30. Older demo videos and walkthroughs document that version; they do not establish a current download.

Why does my extractor stop working?

Check backpack electricity and make sure you are aiming before extracting. The demo introduces solar charging, batteries, and suitable plants as ways to restore power.

How do I find the next landing destination?

Follow the journal, objective marker, and ring route shown in the demo. Check the marked landing area rather than assuming any nearby island is the destination.

Can I take my camp with me?

Yes. In the recorded demo, the player packs the Camp Hub and straps it to the rear of the Wasp, bringing the camp equipment along for the next stop.
